Is Dawkins Cracking?

by Clay Staggs

Richard Dawkins, probably the world's most prominent atheist (at least til now?) seems to be hedging his bets a little.  Check out this report from the UK Telegraph from a debate between Dawkins and the Archbishop of Canterbury.  Hmmmmmm:

The following excellent article expresses what my heart has hinted at but not formulated nearly as well on why the Christian calendar is important.

Machine Gun Preacher

by Tim Lien

There is a real movie (“Machince Gun Preacher”) about a real guy (Rev. Sam Childers), with a real gun (presumably an AK-47), who shoots real people (the LRA). He wants to kill Joseph Kony. Read it here.

The problem is this: when God the Father envisioned bringing down the strongholds …

Paging All Calvinist Thugs

by Tim Lien

R.C. Sproul once wrote, “The only thing more annoying than an arrogant Calvinist is an arrogant Armenian.”

Funny.

But I think that Calvinists fight dirtier. It may be that our arsenal is bigger: our appeal to history, a steady interpetive grid, whole-Bible consideration, and our witty logical missiles. We …

How cool is this?!

by Peggy Drinkard

http://www.desiringgod.org/blog/posts/saint-gets-certification-for-first-flying-car The inventor of this flying car is the son of Nate Saint, who piloted the missionaries, including Jim Elliot, who were killed in the Amazon in the fifties. This nifty invention can go just about anywhere, from jungle to highway. Not sure why …

Up In Flames

by Clay Staggs

It is always astonishing to me how a few people in an obscure place can set tongues wagging all around the world. The most recent example of this is the decision of Terry Jones and his congregation of 50 at the Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida, to burn …

The womb is such a powerful weapon; it’s a weapon against the enemy,”

by Clay Staggs

I must confess that I’ve never heard of the Quiverfull movement. That is, until I read a story from NPR on this faction of modern-day evangelicalism. As indicated by the quotation above, from Nancy Campbell, one of the founders of this movement, the idea is that Christians should reproduce …

In A Hole, And Digging Fast

by Clay Staggs

It is merely a matter of time before there is a schism of worldwide proportions in the Anglican Church. That church is in a hole, and Rev. Martin Dudley has decided that the thing to do is to dig as quickly as possible. You see, Rev. Dudley “married” two fellow …

The Monkey on Moses’s Back

by Clay Staggs

Deep down, I’ve always suspected that Moses was a stoner. Tell the truth, now - haven’t you? I mean, really, what else could possibly explain how he got the 10 Commandments? Benny Shanon, a professor of cognitive psychology at Hebrew University in Jerusalem is now calling him out:

“As …

Lent: Ramadan for Christians

by Clay Staggs

Apparently that’s what a group of Catholics in the Netherlands is saying. They figure that the average Dutchman is more familiar with the islamic fasting period, Ramadan, than they are with Lent, so it’s just smarter branding to let folks know what this whole Lent thing is all …
