Books

Modern Reformation

by Jimmy Hopper

On Saturday, I received the July/August issue of Modern Reformation magazine, an event I always anticipate. This issue has the theme of “A Feast in a Fast Food World,” and several of the articles speak to the connection of food and Christianity, including Communion, prodigality, asceticism, liberty, and the wedding supper of the Lamb. One short piece that some of us at Riverwood would respond to, since it is currently on our book table and was once a movie night presentation, is a book/movie review of Babette’s Feast.

This issue is now up on the Modern Reformation website but the articles can’t be accessed except by subscribers. However, the magazine is inexpensive and is well worth the time and money of anyone of the Reformed persausion. It, as well as the radio ministry, White Horse Inn, are ministries of Michael Horton, a favorite of many of us. I highly recommend Modern Reformation magazine.

Speaking from personal experience, the thought provoking White Horse Inn Podcasts have helped make many work related trips to Biloxi (a five hour drive) and many trips back “home” (Tuscaloosa) go by much more quickly. I recommend them too.
