Christian Consumerism at its ‘finest’
by Jeff Miller
Gene Veith’s blog is one I enjoy reading regularly. He was with World Magazine until he recently took a position with Patrick Henry College. Today he referenced an article about Christian theme parks. I really can’t do it justice. Here’s the link. … and yes, there really was a Golgotha Fun park miniature golf course in Cave City,KY, it’s currently for sale….
I also found several other articles available online about the Holy Land Experience Park in Orlando. Just Google ‘Christian theme parks’. Be sure your stomach is settled before you hit enter.

And I was complaining about neon green t-shirts with slogans based on commercials at Six Flags. I’m so ashamed!
Only in America! While our brothers and sisters all around the world are facing persecution, imprisonment, or death, American Christians are paying $30 to complain about long lines and expensive cokes at theme parks that bastardize the meaning of the Gospel. Honestly, where is the sacrifical love of the theme park? Do they have a department for it complete uniformed staff? The linked article cited a fellow as saying that it helped spread the Gospel. Which Gospel would that be? The one where we constantly repackage God and sell the Almighty, Creator of the Universe on a pen, as an experience worth paying for, or a commercialized version of the church? “God created man, and man returned the compliment” -Pascal
